IPL Treatment
Q: What is IPL Treatment?
A: It is using broadband of light wavelengths that will help target skin tone issues, such as reds from vascular issues, and browns from sunspots.
Q: What should I expect?
A: The treatment should feel like a rubber band snapping against the skin. Pigment fading of the sunspots will become lighter in a few days as the skin begins its own sloughing. Some redness may be reduced as the light will collapse some of the tiny capillaries. This treatment will even out skin tone for a more uniform complexion, along with new collagen formation.
Q: How often should I do the treatment?
A: We recommend at least 3 treatments. Treatment intervals are about 4 weeks apart. After a series of treatments, it is recommended to have the treatment once or twice a year for maintenance. Through time, we can see some skin tone issues reoccurring through lifestyle from direct/indirect sunlight.
Q: Who is the best candidate?
A: The best candidate is fair to light-medium for skin color. It is NOT recommended for medium to dark skin.
Pixel Laser Resurfacing: Consultation required for tailored treatment.
Q: What is a Pixel laser resurfacing?
A: Pixel is the name of a model type from Alma Lasers. Pixel is a fractionated laser, where it creates tiny open wounds into the skin for tremendous collagen formation. This treatment is great for skin with textural issues, such as acne scars, stretched pores, fine lines, and a loss of elasticity due to lifestyle and age.
Q: What should I expect?
A: The laser creates tiny open wounds into the skin. Laser is attracted to water in the skin and it will vaporize the tissues, thus leaving open columns in the skin. Depending on the depth of penetration of the laser treatments IL and how many passes over the wound, downtime is 3-7 days. It will feel like a sunburn, but clients are able to cope with the treatment, as it is transient. The next day the skin will look darker, and within 48 hours there is rapid new cell formation within the missing columns of skin. Improvement in the texture of the skin is at least 50%. As time goes, the skin will be noticeably better, smoother, and softer once new collagen secretion has matured. The benefits of laser resurfacing are ongoing as collagen production matures in the skin.
Q: How many treatments should I have?
A: The number of treatments depends on the melanin color of your skin and how severe the textural issues are. It could be a minimum of 3 treatments.
Q: Who is the best candidate?
A: This treatment is good for all skin colors, except for very dark skin due to the nature of the melanocytes. Melanocytes are cells that secrete the melanin color in our skin. Aggressive laser treatments IL on very dark skin can cause darkening of the skin, or white spotting of the skin.
