What is the Pixel® Laser?
Developed by Alma® Lasers, a trusted name in skin technology, the Pixel® is a fractionated Erbium ablative laser, which targets a wide range of skin concerns with less post-treatment redness and recovery than other laser-based solutions. The Pixel® can effectively target:
- Acne scars
- Stretched pores
- Fine lines and visible signs of aging
- Loss of elasticity due to the natural aging process
- Overall dull or lackluster appearance
- And more!
How Does the Pixel® Laser Work?
Fractional lasers such as the Pixel® are highly regarded by medical professionals worldwide for their ability to create maximum results with minimal downtime. The Pixel® treats fractionated areas of the skin at a time, creating tiny perforations on the surface that are nearly invisible to the naked eye. This approach to resurfacing leaves healthy areas of skin intact to help promote the healing process.
Once the perforations are created in the skin surface, existing collagen fibers are coagulated, creating a tightening effect. Additionally, collagen production under the skin surface is increased for continued, subtle improvements over time.
Who is a Good Candidate for Pixel® Laser Resurfacing?
Men and women who are interested in laser-based resurfacing to repair and improve their skin and who have good skin health may be candidates for this treatment, although patients who have very dark skin may require further evaluation for optimal safety and treatment.
Are There Any Side Effects?
Patients may experience slight post-treatment redness akin to a sunburn for about five to seven days after treatment, which is a good sign that the skin healing process has begun. This is minimal downtime in comparison to the weeks of downtime that fully ablative lasers can require.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
Most patients are able to achieve their aesthetic goals in as many as three to six sessions, with a maintenance treatment once or twice a year to add longevity to your results. Dr. Susarla and our medical team will customize a treatment plan for you based on your unique condition.
