Botox prevents the appearance of wrinkles by temporarily blocking nerve impulses that control muscle contraction. Botox is used for both cosmetic purposes and therapeutic purposes – i.e some uses are beauty related and others, like Botox for hyperhydrosis or migraine, are used to address medical issues. 

Where is Botox most commonly injected?

• forehead and frown lines between the brows “the elevens”
• around the eyes “crows feet”
• underarms/hands/feet to prevent sweating
• jaw for those people who grind and have TMJ dysfunction
• neck to reduce fine lines and muscle tension due to “tech neck”

How long does a Botox treatment take? 

If you are a new client, we would need approximately twenty minutes for a good consultation and treatment.  Returning clients need about ten minutes. 

Is there downtime with Botox?

There is no downtime.  You may resume normal activities immediately. 

How long do the results last?

While it depends heavily on the person, Botox generally lasts between 3-6 months.

How does Daxxify work?

Like Botox, Daxxify is a neuromodulator. Neuromodulators are designed to prevent nerves and muscles from communicating. In aesthetic, neuromodulators temporarily paralyze and relax the facial muscles, preventing them from creating and/or worsening facial lines and wrinkles. 

All frown line treatments require a special ingredient to stabilize botulinum toxin A, the protein responsible for helping smooth moderate to severe frown lines. For instance, BOTOX® Cosmetic uses human serum albumin (HSA), a blood product, as its stabilizer. Dysport®, another frown line treatment, uses HSA as a stabilizer and cow’s milk protein as a protectant.

DAXXIFY™ is unique because it is the only formulation that uses a novel peptide as a stabilizer and does not contain human or animal byproducts.

How long does the Daxxify treatment last?

If you are a new client, we would need about 15-20 minutes for a good consultation and treatment.  Returning clients would need about 10 minutes.

Is there downtime to Daxxify?

There is no downtime. You can return to normal activities immediately.

How long do the results last?  

Daxxify is FDA approved to last up to 6 months.  Some people can last up to 9 months.  Results may last longer than the other neuromodulators. 

At least 50% of patients in clinical studies had no or minor frown lines 6 months after treatment. Between 3% and 5% of patients in clinical studies had no or minor frown lines 9 months after treatment. In other safety studies, between 5% and 17% of patients still had noticeable improvement 9 months later.

Most notably, a Dysport treatment is more diluted than Botox. Dysport is also able to “spread” into a larger area than Botox. Quite often, Botox and Dysport are used together to create the ideal results.

Xeomin works similarly to Botox to relax muscles, limit movements, and prevent lines and wrinkles from forming. Patients who feel that Botox and Dysport do not work well for them may find better results with Xeomin. Xeomin has no additives in the purified protein, which leaves less risk of developing antibodies that can reject the product from the body, rendering the treatment ineffective.

Jeuveau is a neurotoxin by Evolus, similar to Botox. It relaxes muscles, limits movement, and prevents lines and wrinkles from forming. Jeuveau treatment is the latest to receive FDA approval in February 2019. Unlike other injectables, Jeuveau is only approved for aesthetic/cosmetic use and cannot be used to treat medical conditions such as migraines and hyperhidrosis.
